Manadhoo
Manadhoo is 177 km north of the country's capital, Malé. Island is located in the atoll's geographic center, making it equally accessible to the remainder of the atoll's inhabited islands to the north and south. Manadhoo is easily accessible to and from all other inhabited islands and resorts. Apart from this most of the exotic snorkeling sites, Dolphine and manta, whale-shark points, dive sites, sandbanks, and surf spots in the Atoll are located near the Center of the Atoll, this puts Manadhoo in a better position than the other islands in the atoll. Manadhoo was populous and flourishing as early as the 4th century BC, according to evidence. The earliest settlers are thought to have come from Arabia, eastern Africa, and the Indian subcontinent, among other areas. Despite possessing a historic spot known as "Maamiskithu Vevu," a bathing tank with ancient Arabic calligraphy and well-bricked walls. The actual time of this vevu is unknown, but the sandstone used to build it refers to the pre-Islamic era (500 BC, 1153 AD).
